Me, my sister and her two sons at Disney World

Hello! I’m Tom. I’m a 26 year old guy from Rugby, England. I have been online since 1998. Years ago, in my youth, I dabbled with website development. I even started a website development business called Innovation Design. The fact that I never obtained a single client put that little entrepreneurial endeavor to bed after a while.

I once set up and ran an information site called Florida Facts. You can probably guess what that was about. This was before the days of blogging, and I took great pride in my design and content. There were one hundred plus pages of original content. Unfortunately, I received very little traffic, and that little venture died too.

I’ve done the usual eBay selling lark. In fact, I used to buy wholesale and sell retail. I made very little from that undertaking either.

Many years have passed since my initial attempts at making money on the internet. Three years of university and five years of full time employment passed me by very quickly. Then, out of the blue, just a few months ago, I had an epiphany. It took form as a thought in my head that was something along the lines of, “What the hell am I doing with my life?”

I had been working full time ever since I left university. I started by cleaning up rat infested alleys and painting toilets, then got promoted to a part-time administration position and ended up running an eight-figure property portfolio. It was a rewarding journey, and I learnt an incredible amount about bricks and mortar business models.

I was incredibly fortunate to be able to say that I actually liked my job. But none of the work I did belonged to me. Nothing I did at work was truly mine. I was never going to be happy in my position – I was essentially unemployable.

I didn’t want to work for someone else. I wanted to work for myself. So I decided that was what I would do. I plotted out a path, and followed it to completion.

On 31st December 2011, just seven months after I first decided that I wanted to quit my job, I did. It’s just me and my laptop now. I hope you decide to join me for the journey!
